Source transparency: All information on GTA 6 Vault is sourced from Rockstar's official trailers, press releases, and Take-Two investor communications. Sections that go beyond confirmed facts are clearly labelled as our own analysis.

Who Is Lucia?

Lucia is the confirmed main protagonist of GTA 6. She was first shown in Rockstar's Trailer 1, released December 2023. She appears in a prison setting at the trailer's opening, establishing that her story involves incarceration before the main events of the game unfold.

The name "Lucia" is confirmed — it appears in the trailer itself, spoken during dialogue. Her background is Latino, reflected both in her name and in voice and performance details visible in the trailers. Rockstar has described GTA 6 as set in the state of Leonida (inspired by Florida), and Lucia's character visually fits a Miami-inflected aesthetic.

GTA's First Female Protagonist

Lucia is the first playable female protagonist in a mainline GTA game. GTA 1 and GTA 2 allowed players to choose female characters among multiple options, but from GTA III through GTA V, the leads were exclusively male. GTA V had three protagonists (Michael, Trevor, Franklin) — all male.

Rockstar does not typically comment on the cultural significance of casting decisions in press materials, but the choice to centre GTA 6 on a female lead is a noted departure for the series.

Jason — Lucia's Partner

Jason appears alongside Lucia in both official trailers as her partner in crime. The trailers frame the two with a Bonnie and Clyde dynamic: a couple working together on criminal enterprises in Leonida. Rockstar has not published official detailed biographies for either character ahead of launch.

Whether Jason is also a playable protagonist — as in GTA V's three-character switching — has not been officially confirmed by Rockstar. The trailers show him as a central character, but his exact gameplay role has not been described in Rockstar's press materials.

What the Trailers Show

Across the two trailers, Lucia is shown in a range of situations: the prison scene that opens Trailer 1; scenes alongside Jason in what appear to be heist or robbery scenarios; interactions with other characters in Vice City's environments; and action sequences involving vehicles and close encounters.

Her character design is consistent across both trailers. Voice acting is present in both, establishing her as a fully voiced protagonist. The overall impression from the footage is of a character who drives the narrative more explicitly than some previous GTA leads.

What We Don't Know Yet

Character backstory details beyond the prison opening, the full plot of GTA 6, whether Jason is playable, what other named characters appear alongside Lucia, and how the story concludes are all unknown. Rockstar keeps story details closely guarded ahead of release, and we will not speculate.

This article will be updated with official character information as Rockstar publishes it. If a GTA 6 story trailer or dedicated character reveal goes live, we will cover it immediately.
